Overview

Funded by Mr. Tung Chao-Yu (董兆裕 1924-2020), the younger sibling of the esteemed shipping magnate Mr. Tung Hao Yun (董浩雲1912-1982), along with his spouse Madam Ngai Chua Jai, Lily (董艾祖潔 1926-2018), the inaugural cohort of Tung & Ngai Foundation Scholarship is committed to fostering a diverse group of 16 outstanding local university students who are enrolled full-time at the undergraduate level from four universities, beginning from the 2023/2024 academic year. The number of scholarships will be expanded in the coming years.

Financial Awards

  • Full tuition coverage.
  • HK$40,000 living allowance.
  • Up to HK$80,000 subsidy for exchange programme including one compulsory exchange on the mainland and an optional international exchange programme with flexibility on programme duration.
  • Endeavour Support Fund (ESF) up to HK$100,000 for career or start-up projects in the Greater Bay Area or other parts of Mainland China.

Other Learning Opportunities

  • Orientation Programme: Start with a unique induction to build and community among national cultural confidence the T&N Scholars.
  • Salons and Conferences: Attend specialised events to engage with industry leaders and extend learning beyond the classroom.
  • Graduation Project & Scholar Forum: Present personal or team projects at a scholar-led forum, focusing on China/Hong Kong-related learnings.
  • Scholars Community: Remain part of the Tung & Ngai legacy through alumni network, maintaining ties with the Foundation and fellow graduates.

Renewal Conditions

  • T&N Scholars are required to submit an annual progress report to account for their activities, including but not limited to academic, extra-curricular and Community Contribution, with all supporting documents to the University for Scholarship renewal.
  • The University will submit the Scholars’ annual progress reports with all the supporting documents to the Foundation, together with the University’s remarks or observation on the reports, if any, in July every year for Scholarship renewal.
  • Renewal of the Scholarship is subject to the Scholar’s continued outstanding academic performance with a minimum of GPA 3.3/4.0 or 3.5/4.3 in the preceding academic year.
  • The Foundation will review the Scholarship renewal applications and inform the participating universities of the results in August on an annual basis.
  • Scholarship will not be renewed for those awardees who have not fulfilled the renewal conditions mentioned above or have not submitted a renewal application.
